Recently, we successfully delivered a complete lettuce washing, processing, and cutting production line to a client in Argentina. This system includes nine sets of equipment, such as vegetable place machine, ozone vegetable washers, a sorting machine, an commercial ozone bubble fruit vegetable washing machine, an industrial vegetable cutting machine, a belt conveyor, a belt elevator, a vortex vegetable washing machine, and a dewatering machine, enabling efficient and hygienic processing.

The client currently processes 150 kg of lettuce per hour and plans to increase this capacity to 1,000 kg to meet the local salad expanding business. The line is primarily used for initial market testing and employs two washing stages—one before cutting(one stage washing annd second stage washing) and another after—to remove surface slime, ensuring clean cut surfaces, preventing spoilage, and extending shelf life. We recommended installing two pre-cutting washing systems, including a commercial ozone bubble washer and an air bubble water spraying washer, with the existing smaller ozone washer used for product testing in future. This tailored solution allows our partner to produce large quantities of hygienic, pre-processed lettuce, helping them stay competitive in the growing local market and meet consumer demand for high-quality fresh vegetables.

Vegetable Place Table
Prior to delivering the commercial ozone bubble fruit and vegetable washing machine, we designed a specialized vegetable placement table for the client to accommodate their large heads of Romaine lettuce, which can reach up to 40 cm in diameter. This table provides a convenient staging area for the produce during the washing process. It features three enclosed sides and one open side, with a height perfectly aligned with the washer’s inlet to facilitate seamless transfer of the vegetables. Additionally, the table is equipped with 5 cm high side edges and has an overall width of 60 cm, effectively preventing the lettuce from falling onto the floor before washing.

Commercial Ozone Bubble Fruit And Vegetable Washer
The commercial ozone bubble fruit vegetable washing machine is designed as the initial stage in the lettuce washing and cutting line for our Argentina customer, providing safe, gentle, and thorough pre-cleaning by combining ozone-infused water with bubble agitation to effectively break down residual pesticides, eliminate bacteria and surface contaminants, while preserving the produce’s original quality and nutritional value. Made entirely of thickened, food-grade 304 stainless steel, it features a waterproof intelligent control panel with switches for washing, disinfection, and temperature adjustment for easy single-person operation, along with an optional heating function with auto anti-dry-burn safety protection. The washer includes an integrated two-zone cleaning and draining tank, a round-hole filtration system for efficient residue removal, and customizable tank configurations such as multi-slot divided baskets to prevent cross-contamination. Supporting multiple size options with a processing capacity of up to 300 kg per hour, it is well-suited for high-volume commercial food processing workflows, requires minimal maintenance, and offers a reliable, hygienic solution for produce pre-washing.

Vegetable Sorting Machine
The vegetable sorting table is designed to complement the commercial ozone bubble and air-bubble water-spraying washing machines. Lettuce passes over the table, allowing water to drain through specially designed perforations into the surface below, facilitating initial wash water drainage and acting as a buffer zone before the air-bubble washing stage. The table is engineered to support future production increases of up to 1,000 kg/hour and serves as a staging area for testing new vegetable varieties with the commercial ozone bubble washer. The first 30 cm of the table is intentionally left unperforated, creating a seamless transition between the washing stages, as the table is positioned higher than the inlet of the connected air-bubble water-spraying washer, effectively bridging the gap between the two processes.

The 3-meter air bubble water spraying fruit and vegetable washing machine is currently used for pre-cutting washing; later, as the customer expands production, this machine will be placed in the same location as the commercial ozone bubble fruit and vegetable washing machine for the initial washing. The customer originally planned to replace the secondary washing area of this equipment with a 5-meter-long air bubble washing machine for reuse. This minimizes the need for subsequent expansion by adding more equipment; only one machine needs to be moved. The customer was very satisfied with our solution.

Belt Conveyor
Following the air-bubble fruit and vegetable washing machine, we integrated a belt conveyor. This unit features a 600mm-wide mesh belt—matching the width of the preceding washer for seamless connection—and operates at the same speed range of 5–15 meters per minute. The conveyor is 2 meters long and equipped with adjustable feet, allowing the discharge height to align with the infeed of the downstream LVC1000 vegetable cutting machine; this adjustability also offers flexibility should the client wish to reconfigure the production line layout in the future. Additionally, the conveyor features a slight upward incline, which helps minimize surface damage to the vegetables as they transfer into the LVC1000 cutter.

Industrial Vegetable Cutter
The Argentia customer’s lettuce—a large Romaine variety—stands 40 cm tall overall. We determined that the cutting height of the standard LVC660 model was insufficient to meet their requirements. Consequently, we custom-built an industrial vegetable cutter featuring a 50 cm wide conveyor belt and an elevated gantry frame. To process the lettuce, the operator simply aligns the root end with the machine’s infeed opening, allowing for easy shredding and producing the uniform cuts required for salads. Belt Elevator
We designed an elevating belt conveyor to be positioned between the industrial vegetable cutter and the vortex vegetable washer. Featuring a 600mm-wide mesh belt, it integrates seamlessly with the upstream and downstream processing equipment. The belt speed is adjustable within the 5–15 m/min range to match the overall production line, and the variable frequency drive allows for precise synchronization with the lettuce cutting speed. For instance, an initial output of 150 kg/h requires a speed of only 3 m/min; as production scales up later, the belt speed can be adjusted accordingly, ensuring the conveyor remains fully utilized rather than sitting idle.

Vortex Vegetable Washer
Serving as the postcut washing unit for our Argentina customer’s lettuce processing line, this vortex vegetable washing machine addresses the key challenge of slimy residue generated on lettuce cut surfaces — residue that would otherwise speed up spoilage if left uncleaned.
