Recently, we had the privilege of delivering a state-of-the-art 400mm belt width crumbing machine to a leading meat processing facility in Australia. Designed specifically to handle flattening and coating of chicken breast fillets, beef, lamb cutlets, and pork fillets, this equipment exemplifies our commitment to tailored solutions that meet our clients’ evolving needs.  The customer, already operating a similar coating system, was expanding their site and required increased capacity without compromising on hygiene, safety, or product quality. After two weeks of collaborative discussions, our team customized the machine with a series of strategic upgrades—each carefully designed to enhance performance, ensure compliance with international standards, and support streamlined production.

Longer Feed & Stronger Mesh Belt

The crumb feeder is designed with a ramp at the inlet to facilitate smooth and efficient feeding of products into the breading machine. The customer’s products are primarily flat, approximately 5mm thick, and tend to be large in size, often exceeding 15cm in length and 8cm in width. The customer expressed concerns about the possibility of their products curling or deforming during conveyance.  Five years ago, based on the recommendation of another distributor, we extended the distance from the inlet to the end of the ramp to 40cm. This adjustment significantly improved product stability and resulted in smoother feeding, which was confirmed through visual evidence. The customer was highly satisfied with the results and is now completely confident in the process, as this setup effectively prevents product curling during production. Additionally, the customer manufactures very large steaks measuring 15x12cm and 1cm thick. They were also concerned about the load-bearing capacity of the mesh belt when handling such substantial products. After thorough discussions and measurements, we determined that a mesh belt with a diameter of 2.3mm would provide the necessary strength. The customer expressed full confidence in this solution, especially since their current equipment uses a mesh belt with only a 2mm diameter. This upgrade ensures reliable support and durability for their production needs.

Upgrading Rollers

Rollers are a vital component in the crumb bread pressing process, as they directly influence the adhesion and quality of the breading. During operation, the product is immersed in breadcrumbs on one side, while crumbs naturally adhere to its surface. However, applying consistent and adequate pressure from the rollers is essential to ensure the crumbs stay firmly attached. Originally, our rollers were standard, low-pressure models, which raised concerns from the customer about the risk of breadcrumbs falling off during processing. To address this, we collaborated with the customer to develop a customized 304 stainless steel roller. This specially designed roller weighs an impressive 8kg and features a heavier counterweight on top, providing the necessary pressure to press breadcrumbs securely onto the product’s surface. This enhancement not only improves adhesion but also reduces residual oil in subsequent frying steps.  Additionally, the upgraded stainless steel roller offers versatility; it can be lifted to avoid pressing when crumb-coating delicate cakes or pastries that rely solely on gravity for natural crumbing. This multifunctional design allows one machine to efficiently handle both meat products and soft pastries, optimizing production flexibility and efficiency. The customized roller significantly improves crumb adherence, ensuring higher product quality and reducing waste across various applications.

Stainless Steel 304 Baffle Cover

The crumbing machine features a durable 304 stainless steel cover at its outlet to effectively prevent breadcrumbs from scattering into the surrounding area, maintaining cleanliness and hygiene. This crumb loader is capable of processing between 400 to 600 kg of meat products, depending on the specific type and size of the meat being processed. As the mesh belt moves forward, it ensures that the meat products are evenly coated with breadcrumbs, resulting in consistent quality. However, due to the inertia of the moving mesh belt, some breadcrumbs tend to fly off during operation, which can create a mess and potentially compromise hygiene standards. To address this issue and meet the customer’s high hygiene requirements, we proposed and installed a stainless steel baffle at the outlet. This baffle acts as a barrier, effectively containing any loose crumbs and preventing them from escaping into the workspace. The addition of this protective feature helps maintain a clean and organized environment, ensuring both product quality and sanitary conditions are upheld during production.

Waterproof Motor& Fan Cover

Our VERFOODSOLUTIONS crumbing machine is engineered with durability and hygiene in mind, featuring an IP65 waterproof rating. This high level of water resistance allows the entire machine to be safely rinsed directly under a tap during normal cleaning procedures, ensuring ease of maintenance and sanitation without risking water ingress into sensitive components. During operation, customers expressed concerns about potential long-term damage resulting from water splashes or accidental spills, particularly over the fan and motor areas. To address these concerns, our sales and technical teams collaborated extensively to evaluate the machine’s functionality and operational requirements. We developed a semi-enclosed fan guard that functions as a nearly fully enclosed shield. This design effectively minimizes water splashing onto the fan blades, thereby reducing the risk of water ingress and mechanical damage. Despite its enclosure, the guard is engineered to maintain optimal airflow and ventilation, ensuring the fan operates efficiently without overheating or reduced performance. The motor is housed within a fully enclosed casing made from high-grade 304 stainless steel, renowned for its corrosion resistance and durability in food processing environments. The enclosure features multiple rows of ventilation holes on the exterior, carefully designed to facilitate adequate airflow for cooling purposes while preventing the intrusion of oil, water, dust, and other contaminants. This ensures reliable operation, extended equipment lifespan, and peace of mind for our customers in demanding food processing environments.

Imported VFDs and Electrical Components

Our crumbing machine was originally equipped with high-quality, domestically produced electrical components from trusted brands with whom we have maintained a nearly 20-year collaboration. Their consistent performance has ensured reliable operation over the years. However, the customer required enhanced performance features, specifically for high-speed, smooth transmission, and more stable frequency conversion to optimize the machine’s mesh belt operation. In response to these needs, we upgraded the existing variable frequency drives (VFDs) to imported models known for their superior stability and precision. Additionally, at the customer’s request, we replaced other critical electrical components with premium imported parts, further enhancing overall machine reliability. These upgrades significantly improve operational stability, support the machine’s two-shift continuous operation, and provide enhanced protection for the motor.

Full Stainless Steel 304 machine

The entire crumbing machine is made of 304 stainless steel. This was the customer’s first trial order and they wanted to see the quality. If it performed well, they would repurchase more equipment from their third factory. Throughout the negotiation process, the customer emphasized the appearance and material quality of the machine. We performed a sophisticated sandblasting treatment, which not only enhances the appearance but also makes it easier to clean. The entire machine is constructed of 2.5mm thick stainless steel plate, making it extremely durable and sturdy. We also paid close attention to detail throughout the machine, using 304 stainless steel for all screws, nuts, and buttons. The machine is meticulously polished for a gleaming finish. The customer was very satisfied with the pre-shipment images.

Safe Delivery

When shipping the crumbing machine, we typically include a set of electrical components and a half-meter mesh belt. However, to address the customer’s concerns about potential damage to the mesh belt during use, they purchased an additional three-meter mesh belt and a set of push-button switches. Prior to shipment, we provided detailed photographs of the entire machine and its components, and we conducted comprehensive testing using chicken strips, chicken cutlets, and chicken breast cubes. The customer also requested testing for crumbing meatballs and other small cakes, which we performed individually. The customer was highly impressed with our thorough service after reviewing the videos. To ensure safe delivery, we packaged the machine in specially designed export wooden crates that securely protect the equipment, minimizing the risk of damage during transit and ensuring the customer receives a flawless, ready-to-use machine.
